Delete Your Account
Permanently remove your data from Horcrux
You can delete your Horcrux account directly in the app. This will sign a NIP-62 Request to Vanish with your Nostr key, requesting relays and our servers to delete all data associated with your public key.
How to delete your account
Open the Horcrux app and navigate to:
Settings → Account → Delete Account
The app will prompt you to confirm, then sign and broadcast the deletion request using your Nostr key. No email or web form is needed — your cryptographic signature is all the authentication required.
What happens when you delete your account
Your Nostr public key is deleted from our servers — We will remove all data we hold associated with your public key.
Your private key stays on your device — Your Nostr private key is stored only in the app's secure storage and is never sent to us. You can remove it by uninstalling the app.
Encrypted shards on stewards' devices are unaffected — The encrypted shards held by your stewards are stored on their devices, not on our servers. They remain encrypted and unreadable without a recovery process.
Before you go
Make sure you've exported anything you need before deleting. Vault contents and recovery information stored only in the Horcrux app cannot be recovered after deletion.
